THE 7TH EDITION OF THE EUROSFAT FORUM

EUROPULS – Centre of European Expertise has the pleasure to welcome you to the 7th edition of the EUROSFAT Forum, the largest forum on European affairs in Romania. The forum is a project based on European values of democracy, civic engagement and open dialogue and represents the perfect opportunity to debate current and critical European, national and regional political topics, alongside representatives from the local, regional and international political sphere, businesses and civil society.

The word ‘sfat’ means both ‘council’ and ‘advice’ in Romanian and its association with the term ‘Euro’, sets the stage, every year since 2013, for the one moment when Europe is the main topic on the Romanian agenda – in all its forms and problems. Due to the extraordinary political context, both at national and European level,the 2019 Eurosfat Forum will be a special edition, transforming into the main national scene for the European Parliament elections and taking place during the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

On April 11, we invite you to find out why your vote will shape the future of Europe directly from representatives of the main European political parties in the European Parliament. Europuls will host a citizens’ debate in which you will be able to share your vision with high EU stakeholders and you will be able to find out the future projects of the European Parliament political groups for the next 5 years.

On April 12, the forum will open with a plenary session, followed by 9 conferences, workshops, roundtables and cultural moments on EU topics. You will be able to debate with the top Romanian candidates in the European Parliament elections about their European priorities. Following the plenary debate, we invite you to participate to the 8 thematical workshops in which you will be able to meet high representatives of the EU institutions, Romanian and European candidates to the European elections, mayors of main Romanian cities as well as representatives of the national Government and Parliament.

Here’s what themes we propose this year:

  • the vision of the Romanian parties’ candidates on the future of Europe;
  • can civic involvement influence the outcome of European elections;
  • the rule of law and anti-corruption in public administration;
  • building a safer and smarter healthcare system;
  • adapting the future MFF to the current challenges;
  • sustainable development of Romanian urban areas;
  • the future of EU trade policy;
  • the role of social entrepreneurship in Europe in achieving sustainable development goals;
  • digital finance.

The closing ceremony of the forum will consist in a cultural event shaped in a forum theatre entitled “It lies in your power to change something! – Citizens are responsibly choosing their representatives in 2019!”

The event is organized under the patronage of the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, of the European Commission Representation in Romania and of the Romanian Presidency to the Council of the European Union.
